Circa 1945 D'AngelicoExcel – Natural
Here we have a gorgeous 1945 D’Angelico Excel in its original Natural finish! D’Angelico is widely revered as one of the finest archtop luthiers to ever lived, and the Excel model was certainly one of the more popular models in their lineup! The details and craftsmanship on this piece is astounding, from the crazy flame maple up and down the guitar, the scribed pearl block inlays, to the headstock and trim to the F-holes, there is no stone left unturned! There was at one point a DeArmond pickup installed, as well as a headstock repair that was professionally done with some finish touch ups to the headstock, and a small crack behind the tailpiece. The tailpiece also has a couple replaced screws, and missing end pin. The guitar plays beautifully, and just has that sound D’Angelico is famous for!
