1961 FenderJazz Bass – Sunburst

This 1961 Fender Jazz Bass in its original Sunburst finish features stack knobs and an incredible original owner story! Thanks to the slim nut width on the Jazz Bass, they’re usually quite easy to play, and this particular example is as smooth as butter! No matter where you are on this neck, each note is effortless to play and rings out. The neck itself has a nice subtle flame to it, and the slab board lends some warmth to the overall tone. There’s wear and checking throughout the piece, but everything is original, which is incredible considering what this instrument has been through. We were lucky enough to purchase this from the original owner’s cousin. They were even luckier though, as this bass survived not one, but two house fires! Included in the sale is this Bass’ original black tolex case, which protected it from the fire. You can see that the case has a little soot and fire damage, only adding to the vibe of this piece. Flame figuring in the maple neck wasn’t enough I guess, this bass had to turn up the heat!
