1961 GibsonLes Paul/SG Custom – Tobacco Sunburst
At the end of 1960, Gibson decided to venture away from the traditional Les Paul body styles and introduce a thinner, double-cut body for the Les Paul and Les Paul Custom models. This early 1961 Les Paul Custom is quite rare due to its original, yet unusual Tobacco Sunburst finish. As many know, the standard finish on a Les Paul/SG Custom is Polaris White, making this finish truly eye-catching.
This exceptional example of a Gibson custom color features three original PAF humbucking pickups, a sideways vibrola, split diamond headstock inlay, and of course, the Les Paul Custom standard of gold hardware.
In over 40 years in the vintage guitar industry, this is the only Les Paul/SG Custom we have ever seen in this color.
