1971 FenderStratocaster – Firemist Gold Metallic
This is a gorgeous, all-original 1971 Fender Stratocaster in rare Firemist Gold Metallic! Firemist Gold replaced Shoreline Gold in 1965 and was used as a custom color until it was discontinued in the early 70s. The clear coat on the body has gracefully aged over the years producing a rich, smoky shade of gold with beautiful checking throughout. The neck on this example features a maple cap and the larger, CBS-style headstock. The frets are in phenomenal shape, with plenty of life remaining. This guitar also has a great story about its original owner! The guitar was custom ordered in 1970 by Buffalo-based Blues guitarist, Robert “Count Rabbit” Robinson. In 1959, Robinson had a national hit with the song, “Why Did You Go,” recorded with Eugene Washington as “Robert and Gino.” Inside this case, decorated with a lion’s head and the original owner’s nickname “Count Rab.”, you will find the story of how this nickname came to be. Let’s just say, Count Rabbit created more than just music…
