1954 FenderStratocaster – Sunburst

It doesn’t get much cooler than an original first year Fender Stratocaster in Sunburst, with an even cooler story from the original owner! Her name was Georgia Nye Edwards, who along with her husband and daughter, formed the “Edwards Family” band throughout the 50s and 60s. They even performed on the original talent search television show “Ted Mack and the Original Amateur Hour” on May 9th, 1965 with this very Stratocaster! Her letters recounting the band and the guitar’s journey are even included in the case. This example perfectly captures all of the key features from that year, such as the bakelite short skirt knobs, “Football” switch tip, and round string retainer. The headstock also features an accentuated, painted plug at the nut. This was done on guitars meant for TV and print, so to inform soon-to-be customers the walnut plug seen on Fender headstocks was to be expected. As a whole, this guitar is an incredible player, but a massive piece of history as well!
