1969 FenderSwinger – Competition Burgundy
We’re happy to have many rare Fender oddities in the shop, like this wonderfully preserved 1969 Fender Swinger in Competition Burgundy! After purchasing the company in 1965, CBS was eager to repurpose leftover bodies and parts from several models, like the DuoSonic and Musicmaster lines. They tasked Virgilio “Babe” Simoni with finding a solution. One of the results was this model, also known as the “Arrow” or “Musiclander.” It is estimated that they made about 250-300 of these in total. The Swinger was never officially featured in the Fender Catalog, and most of these guitars do not have any model name applied to the headstock. This particular guitar still maintains its sticker! The subtle blueish-purple burst on this finish is so cool with this body shape, as is the dark rosewood fretboard, pearloid pickguard, and pointed headstock.
