1964 GretschChet Atkins (6120) – Amber Red
Check out this beautiful 1964 Gretsch 6120 in Amber Red that just came into our shop! This one has us buzzing, mainly because this is the same model as the guitar John Lennon used in the “Paperback Writer” sessions. This hollow body features two gold-plated Filter’tron pickups, a horseshoe inlay on the headstock, and a single mute by the bridge. This model features Gretsch’s Tone-Switch Circuit with a standby switch for many different sounds and tonal combinations. The binding throughout the guitar and these neo-classic inlays are in great shape, with a few binding cracks, as to be expected on a Gretsch of this age. The pickguard does feature the “Chet Atkins” signature, but appears from the era. This instrument is also equipped with a Bigsby for even more options! Overall, the guitar is in great shape, and the original Orange finish is beautifully rich with a nice light patina.
