1953 Martin000-21 – Natural/Leather Wrap (ex Judy Lynn)

Whether you’re a fan of western motifs or just a fan of cool guitars, you’ll love this 1953 Martin 000-21, featuring a custom leather wrap made for artist Judy Lynn. Lynn was a country music artist, actress, Las Vegas headliner, and beauty queen. As the daughter of a bandleader and a rural country girl through and through, she played music, competed in pageants, and rode horses as an authentic cowgirl from a young age. In 1955, she was crowned Miss Idaho, and two years later, in 1957, she began cohosting the Grand Ole Opry’s network telecast. She appeared many times on the Jimmy Dean show and performed regularly overseas for the troops. Most notably, Lynn had a 20-year residency on the Las Vegas Strip, performing at the Golden Nugget and Caesars Palace. Her biggest hit, Footsteps of a Fool, topped the US Country Charts at #7. She was known for her custom-tooled getup, nudie suits with such flair that her guitar just had to match! This Martin was one of her main guitars, and you will see many photos of Judy with it, often on her album covers. The leather cover on the guitar was hand-made by Tom Kelly in 1955, which is engraved on the back of the guitar. Despite being in a leather wrap, this guitar sounds incredible, with great resonance and full tone. Inside this guitar’s case, you will find a note from Judy Lynn listing all the people who have played this guitar over the years. It also comes with additional photos of Lynn, and an album titled “The Judy Lynn Show,” on which this guitar is featured.
