1984 GibsonCitation – Sunburst

This stunning 1984 Gibson Citation in Sunburst is flamed, gilded, and meticulously crafted! As one of their luxe archtop models, the Citation showcases some of Gibson’s finest craftsmanship, with ornate trimmings from headstock to toe. Very few of these were produced annually, each receiving a hand-written label inside the f-hole and a pearl plaque at the back of the headstock denoting its serial number and completion date. This guitar is Reg No. 19, from June 25, 1984. Luthiers at Gibson hand-picked every piece of wood on these models for their appearance and tonal qualities, one of our favorite touches being this hyper-flamed maple pickguard. All of the hardware is 24-karat gold-plated, and this guitar’s plating still remains in excellent condition. The tailpiece is one of the most eye-catching appointments, as it is embossed with the model’s name, bookended by fleur-de-lis symbols. The mother-of-pearl inlays depict cloud fretboard markers and fleur-de-lis accents on the rosewood bridge and headstock. This guitar is all original, with only a few marks, the faintest wear, and three professionally repaired top cracks.
