1969 FenderCompetition Burgundy – Swinger
We love an oddball guitar and a good story, and this 1969 Fender Swinger in faded Competition Burgundy is exactly that! After purchasing the company in 1965, CBS was eager to repurpose leftover bodies and parts from several different models, like the DuoSonic and Musicmaster lines. They tasked Virgilio “Babe” Simoni with finding a way to do so. One of the results was this model, also known as the “Arrow” or “Musiclander”. It is estimated that they made about 250-300 of these total. The Swinger was never officially featured in the Fender Catalog, and the vast majority of these guitars do not have any model name applied to the headstock. This guitar originally featured a subtle blueish-purple burst on this finish, but it has since faded to a semi-even Lake Placid Blue shade. The shorter scale is a ton of fun to play around, and this particular guitar will shock you with its fantastic playability!
