1964 GibsonFirebird III – Sunburst

Check out this completely original 1964 Gibson Firebird III in Sunburst! Gibson’s neck-through-body design is on full display with these Sunburst models, as the 7-piece laminate center is visible the whole way through. As a bonus, this example has some beautiful figuring in the mahogany! This particular guitar was kept well over its life, and even the metal pickup rings and mini-humbuckers still have their original luster. The guitar’s finish has a heavy checking throughout for some great vintage character. The neck feels comfortable in the hand, and these factory large frets make playing and particularly bends a real treat. The pickups are nicely balanced for a full tone in each switch position, and they can scream with some distortion in the mix!
