1932 GibsonJack Penewell Twin Six – Sunburst

We’re honored to have an incredible piece of history in this 1932 Gibson “Twin-Six” Double Neck made especially for popular guitarist Jack Penewell! Mr. Penewell was an incredibly popular guitarist throughout the 1920s, appearing on numerous radio stations and recordings. He is credited with inventing multi-necked guitars in both Hawaiian and Spanish styles and even developed a guitar with four necks as early as 1924! This guitar is widely considered to be the first, and perhaps only acoustic, double-neck Gibson ever made, and was custom made for Mr. Penewell with his name inlaid in the conjoined headstock. It features a spruce top, highly figured maple back and sides, and a gorgeous pair of curly mahogany necks. Since this is a lap steel guitar, the “frets” are actually white markers on both necks. The guitar has been professionally and meticulously cared for, with a full repair history included. This particular guitar is truly a stunning piece of Gibson and music history and is sure to be a jewel in any collection!

For such an incredible instrument with history, we had to write a blog post on it! Click here to read it.
