1964 FenderJazz Bass – Sonic Blue (Over Mustang Blue)
There are not many of these out there, so we’re lucky to have this 1964 Fender Jazz Bass in this rare custom color – Sonic Blue! This Jazz Bass was clearly well cared for, as it only shows light playwear throughout the instrument. This Sonic Blue finish is actually applied over Mustang Blue, which you can see peering through in some of the areas of wear around the body. We have seen this with other Sonic Blue instruments from this period; in fact, we have a 1964 Stratocaster that is also in Sonic Blue with a Mustang Blue undercoat. We believe this was something Fender must have been experimenting with this year. On top of the cool finish details, this bass sports a matching Sonic headstock, a beautifully grained rosewood fingerboard, and original clay dot inlays to round it all out. This fully original
