1980 GibsonKalamazoo Award – Natural
Here we have a beautiful 1980 Gibson Kalamazoo Award in Natural, a model that is definitely worthy of that prized name! This carefully crafted archtop features luxe appointments, and looking at the 1980 Gibson catalog, we can get detailed with these specs. This solid maple neck is actually a five-piece laminate. Ebony is used on the adjustable saddle and bridge, which is inlaid with pearl. All of the hardware is gold-plated, including this BJB jazz pickup! The tone and volume controls for this pickup are also mounted to the pickguard. The pickguard is one of the most remarkable features of this model, as it is made of the same curly maple we see on the back of the guitar and is also inlaid in pearl with the same design present on the headstock. The truss rod cover noting the model name is also made of wood! This model was available in Antique Sunburst or Natural, and we have to say…we absolutely love how it looks in the latter! It is immaculate and would be a great jazz box for any player!
