1934 GibsonL-7 – Sunburst

This beautiful Gibson Archtop is a 1934 L-7 in Sunburst. It looks and plays great for its age, although it has its fair share of fine finish checking across the whole guitar to note its pre-war status! These f-holes allow for tremendous resonance through the body, giving this smaller body style a colossal sound. We often joke around and call this neck a triangle, but honestly, we really aren’t exaggerating. The neck on this Gibson is an intensely hard V that feels fantastic in hand. It’s been refretted with jumbo wire, a standard repair expected to keep an archtop of this age. At one point, an added pickup was glued to the front of the body as the wire was fed through the f-hole. A jack input at the bottom of the body accompanied it. This has since been removed, and we can tell all of this because there is a plugged hole at the bottom of the body next to the strap button. There also used to be an added strap button at the neck heel, but that has since been removed and plugged as well. The original tuners have been replaced with a repro Waverly set, and we are assuming the originals deteriorated with age. There appear to be no extra holes at the tuners, although the imprints from the original set are visible.

Overall Condition: 6.5, lots of playwear and aging to a guitar that is almost 90 years old!
