1969 GibsonLes Paul Custom – Black

Check out this early 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom! Gibson reintroduced the “Black Beauty” in 1968, featuring some specs from the original model, along with some changes. Most notably, the model received two humbucking pickups rather than three. While earlier Customs typically featured a solid mahogany body, these examples received a maple top, much like ’50s Goldtops and Standards. This particular guitar sports a ’69 serial number, though its late ’68 pot dates, one-piece body, one-piece neck, long tenon, and lack of volute/”Made in USA” stamp all indicate completion in very early 1969. This guitar remains original, except for a new nut and refret with medium/jumbo wire.
