1969 GibsonLes Paul Custom – Black

This 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom is a fantastic example from the early years following the model’s reintroduction in 1968. This guitar captures an important transitional period in Gibson’s production, blending late-’60s construction changes with the classic Les Paul Custom look and feel players love. Featuring several hallmark transitional specs, including a short-neck tenon, a pancake body, three-piece neck, a volute, and a larger headstock, it was still made before the introduction of the “Made in USA” headstock stamp. These details place it firmly in that unique late-’60s window. Cosmetically and structurally, this Les Paul appears to be original, right down to its components and finish, though there is one small area of buffing to the clear on the back of the body around the switch cavity. It has naturally aged with grace, showing honest wear consistent with its age, but nothing that detracts from its visual appeal or performance. Most importantly, it plays and sounds fantastic. The neck feels comfortable and fast, and the guitar delivers the rich, full-bodied tone you’d expect from a Custom: warm, articulate, and powerful, whether clean or driven. Whether you’re a collector looking for a correct late-’60s example or a player wanting vintage tone and vibe, this 1969 Les Paul Custom is a standout.
