1956 FenderPrecision Bass – Sunburst

This 1956 Fender Precision Bass comes in its original Sunburst finish! ’56 is a cool year for this model, as it sits squarely in the transitional period for the model’s design. When the P-Bass was first introduced in ’51, it looked much like a Telecaster, with a blond, slab body, black pickguard, and slimmer, tele-style headstock. In ’54, these features began to change, as the model would eventually resemble a Strat more than a Tele. By ’56, the body is now beveled, with a two-tone Sunburst finish. The headstock, however, is still the earlier style. This particular example shows its fair share of knicks, dings, and playwear, while still maintaining all of its original hardware. This includes these original frets, which still have some life left in them (roughly 85%). While the pickup winding needed to be repaired to keep this instrument functioning, all of these electronics are original, too. Alongside this beautiful bass comes its original leather gig bag, and it is a clean one at that! Attached to the bag, you will find a luggage tag bearing the original owner’s name, Rick Munro. He was the guitarist for a band called Bob Davies and the Rhythm Jesters, and owned this bass, and a 1957 Strat we purchased alongside it. If you would like to purchase the pair (guitar and bass), don’t hesitate to call!
