1967 EpiphoneRiviera E360TD-12 – Sunburst (ex Carl Wilson)
Fans of the Beach Boys may want to scoop up this 1967 Epiphone Riviera 12-string (E360TD12) previously owned and stage played by Carl Wilson! Wilson co-founded the group and was the youngest of the Wilson siblings. As lead guitarist, Wilson was pivotal in shaping the Beach Boys’ early sound. Following Brian’s retirement from touring, Carl became the group’s lead musical director and contributed more and more to lead vocals on some of their most popular hits. Like many artists of the mid-60s, Wilson became entranced by the 12-string sound, inspired by Roger McGuinn and George Harrison, and by their Rickenbackers. As a result, Wilson owned many 12-string guitars over the years, and this is one of them! Throughout the 80s and 90s, you will see photos of Wilson playing this guitar, and we have even found photos as early as 1968-9 with a 12-string Riviera that looks a lot like this one! Inside the case, you will find a photo of Wilson on stage with this guitar, along with a Carl Wilson pick and a letter from Jeffrey Foskett. Foskett served as a member of the Beach Boys touring band for 10 years, and over the years, he and Carl often traded guitars, which is how Foskett acquired this instrument. Overall, this instrument remains in great shape, very well cared for over the years. Between this, its playability, and its ties to Carl Wilson, this instrument would be a catch for any collection!
