1964 GibsonSG Tenor – Cherry

This one of a kind 1964 Gibson SG Tenor guitar in Cherry features some pretty insane custom ordered features. You’ll first notice the crazy combo of an SG body style with a tenor neck and Non Reverse Firebird style headstock. But it doesn’t just stop there! Two four pole humbuckers, a four saddle tune-o-matic bridge, and a Bigsby?! Not to mention, this guitar comes with a great story. Inside this guitar’s case you will find a letter from the original owner explaining how he came to own this tenor. To hit some highlights: he wrote to both Fender and Gibson asking to purchase a tenor guitar. Fender never responded, but Gibson wrote back that they would build anything he was willing to pay for. He detailed what he wanted – an electric guitar, tuning pegs that were all on the same side of the headstock, dual pickups, dual volume/tone controls, and a vibrato tailpiece. After quoting him a price he agreed to, Gibson supplied him with this custom-built instrument. Along with this letter are pictures of the original owner with his band playing this tenor guitar. In the black and white photo you can see it in the hands of its original owner, and in the color picture you can see this Tenor in his friend’s hands on the far right.
