1939 GibsonSJ-100 – Sunburst
This is a stunning 1939 Gibson SJ-100 in Sunburst, a first-year production example we proudly present! The sound of this guitar should be measured on the Richter scale; it’s THAT loud! It truly is a remarkable feeling and sound, and the longer 26” scale length gives you a stronger response and louder output, perfect for fingerpicking! This preliminary design also features a striking “stair-step” headstock, along with a script Gibson logo inlaid with pearl and nickel Kluson Seal-fast tuners. Production numbers for these early SJ-100s are well below 200 total units, with many fewer of these with the early stair-step headstock like this one. Originally, the SJ-100 “mustache” bridge was equipped with six adjustable nuts for setting the string height, but the original bridge has since been replaced with a professional, custom-made replica bridge. All visible cracks are stable and have been professionally repaired and monitored.
