1948 GibsonSJ-200 – Sunburst
If you’re looking for an early Gibson acoustic for a fraction of its regular price, look no further than this 1948 SJ-200 in Sunburst! This model was first introduced in 1938, and by 1955, the name was simplified to “J-200”, a model that Gibson still produces today. This example falls well before that name change, and as one of the brand’s top-of-the-line acoustics, it features beautiful details like this mustache bridge, engraved flower motif pickguard, and crest fingerboard inlays. The maple used on this neck and back is super flamey, and along with the stinger gives this guitar a very attractive look. Sonically, this guitar has an incredible sound: rich, warm, and booming! It has seen some changes and repairs to keep it playing well, all detailed in the specifications list below.
