1956 FenderStratocaster – Aztec Gold (Gold Hardware)
You’ll have difficulty finding many guitars rarer than this 1956 Fender Stratocaster in its original Aztec Gold finish with gold hardware! Much less one this well-preserved. Anytime we see a pre-color chart custom color Fender, our jaws drop right open. For this guitar… they are certainly on the floor! The Aztec Gold finish shows vertical weather checking throughout. In some wear spots, we can see that this guitar started as Sunburst but was then sprayed with a copper color and finally finished with Aztec Gold right at the factory. On top of that, they slapped on gold hardware! This one is so special that it was also featured in the legendary book, “The Galaxy of Strats,” by Yasuhiko Iwanade, and we’ve printed out a photo of the entry to keep in the case. Also included with the sale is the original sales receipt showing it as a “Gold Strat.” It was also sold with a Fender Champ, which has since been separated from the guitar, for a grand total of $359. Of course, it is a little more now!
