1969 FenderTelecaster – Candy Apple Red (Special)

We always love to show off a special-ordered guitar, like this awesome 1969 Fender Telecaster with a matching headstock in a “special” shade of Candy Apple Red! Seeing a matching headstock Telecaster in the late 60s is not a common sight, with mostly all matching headstock Fenders for this time period being either a Jaguar or Jazzmaster. To see it on a Telecaster must mean this was specifically ordered. This CBS-Era logo has taken on a nice patina to make this headstock pop even more than it already does! What makes this guitar even cooler is that it has “Special Color” written on the neck heel.  We’d describe it as more of a gold-tinted red for sure, with a much more coppery look than a standard Candy Apple Red. Next to the bridge, you will be able to see an area of wear down to the wood, showing just how complex this finish is. It is layered gold, red, gold, red, and usually, a guitar in Candy Apple Red during this time period would only have one layer of gold and one layer of red. Every component on this guitar is original, down to these frets, the nut, and all the electronics. The overall finish is in good shape, and certainly the only Telecaster out there that looks like this!
