1963 FenderTelecaster – Red Mahogany
This completely original 1963 Fender Telecaster features a rare, factory Red Mahogany finish! Throughout the 1960s, Fender experimented with unique options for the Esquire and Telecaster, and this is a prime example! This “Red Mahogany” finish was only available through custom order and only advertised for a couple of years in Fender’s catalogs. Needless to say, these examples are exceedingly rare, especially in great condition like this one! The subtle red tint is still quite rich and deep, and the neck finish has aged to a golden honey shade. This example was enjoyed by its former owners, with some light wear throughout, a good patina to the clay dots, and a subtly played-in neck finish. This Telecaster has that snap and quack the model is so well-known and loved for, but there’s also a strong bottom end that comes through in each switch position. If you always wanted a vintage Fender but prefer a Gibson-esque bottom end, this is the one for you!
