1972 FenderThinline Telecaster – Candy Apple Red Metallic
This is a striking 1972 Fender Thinline Telecaster (Series II) in Candy Apple Red! 1972 was the first year for the second series of the Thinline Tele line, which saw some changes such as the addition of two humbucking pickups. These new pickups were known as “CuNiFe” or “Wide Range” pickups and were designed by none other than Seth Lover, who just started working at Fender. You may recognize his name from his previous work at Gibson, where he designed their humbucking pickup. Combined with the hollow body, this guitar really does ring like a bell! This guitar also features the then newly implemented 3 bolt neck plate with the micro-tilt feature. The new micro-tilt neck was designed to allow players and techs to incrementally increase the neck pitch, without having to remove the neck entirely. This guitar has a comfortably low action and plenty of life left to these original frets.
