1906 Martin2-21 – Natural
This 1906 Martin 2-21 is nearly 120 years old! This acoustic model was popular during the late 1800s to early 1900s. Along with a natural spruce top, the round soundhole features a three-stripe rosette, with even more binding outfitting the top and back of the instrument. Martin’s signature herringbone backstripe is complemented by the beautiful rosewood grain that comprises the back and sides of the model. Given this instrument’s age, it has some expected repairs, including a neck reset, to preserve its playability and functionality, although it still maintains its original frets. There are also two top cracks, one at the center seam below the bridge and one on the treble side of the body near the neck. Currently, this instrument is fitted with silk and steel strings, offering a warm and mellow tone that is perfect for parlor guitars like this. Despite its tiny body, this acoustic still packs a punch with its incredible sound.
